Forget plastic plates and jam sandwiches, Miss Lilly’s doesn’t believe in them! Your race day picnic deserves more than warm bubbles and a cold sausage roll. Ours are an extravaganza of mouth-watering delights and we’re going to explain just how you can get yours too…
Opt for a glamour picnic, one with vintage plates and real cutlery. There’s nothing worse than a flimsy plastic plate to dampen down your picnic experience.
Oh la la – make your very own French picnic sandwich. Simply hollow out the inside of a freshly baked sourdough loaf and fill with scrummy sandwich fillings. Cut into slices to see all the goodness of summer laid out in beautiful layers. Oui, s’il vous plait!
Salad in a jar – hassle and mess free, simply layer your favourite summer salads in a jar, mixing them up just before you take a bite.
Stuffed brie or camembert – forget packing all the individual pastes, nuts and dried fruit for your cheeseboard. Instead stuff your cheese with scrummy combinations such as dried fig and roast hazelnut or pear and walnut, then rewrap in baking paper and tie with twine.
Chicken roulade wrapped in prosciutto – when sliced it reveals layers of chicken, herb pork mince and free range boiled eggs. Awesome for a family picnic with a rocket salad on the side.
Don’t forget dessert! Pack your tasty dessert in a jar for a mess free and easy to serve pudding.
For me, a family picnic’s all about feeling the grass between your toes and enjoying time spent with your loved ones. There’s nothing more precious than people, so this race day, take the time out to host your very own extraordinary picnic with a difference!
